Process
A convenient aspect of coaching is that it is
mostly done by phone (no parking or additional travel time)
and it carves life assessment and accountability into your
day-to-day routine through scheduled phone calls—usually two 45 minute calls per month. When it is determined that you’d
like to coach with Jen, you will receive a welcome packet
via email (or post if you prefer). The welcome packet includes
a section on guidelines and procedures as well as some questions
for each of you to answer in order to help establish the coaching
relationship.
|
During the call, the coach and couple being coached each benefit from the multi-faceted nature of a dynamic relationship incorporating:
|
| • |
encouragement
and affirmation |
| • |
stimulating
and probing questions |
| • |
active
and empathetic listening |
| • |
visioning |
| • |
problem
solving |
| • |
developing
action plans |
| • |
accountability |
|
To be coached takes an investment of time, money,
commitment, and focus. You’ll find that the more you put into it, the more you’ll
get out of it. Coaching is an investment in your relationship
well worth your energy!

Success Stories
He said: “I would highly recommend Furthered Intentions. My wife and I took the StrengthsFinder assessment and had two follow-up coaching sessions with Jen (Coaching for Couples). The process of identifying and discussing our unique strengths has helped us to better appreciate and understand each other. An awareness of my strengths has also really helped me chart a more successful course as I make the transition to running my own business. Since I don’t
like talking about myself much (too touchy feely), I enjoyed
the way Jen engaged me in the conversation and quickly got
to the heart of the matter!”

| She said: “The support of Furthered Intentions has made a critical difference to us during a time of significant transition. The couples coaching package has helped us to clarify our focus and intentions together as we structure our lives to accommodate a new business, established family and faith priorities, and shifting scheduling and financial parameters. Sharing the results of our StrengthsFinders profiles with each other during our first coaching session provided some big “aha” moments. This seemed somewhat amazing after 15 years of marriage, having assessed our similarities and differences from many perspectives over the years! Through Jen’s results-oriented approach and under her empowering guidance however, we have learned brand new skills to enhance our communication, problem-solving, and decision-making strategies. Thanks to Furthered Intentions, we are approaching these key aspects of our relationship from a new place of combined strength.” |

She said: Never before has someone given me the tools to identify my unique strengths and then helped me see how those strengths play out in my life. Not only has life coaching helped me personally in this area, but it has aided my husband as well. Best of all, it has shed amazing insight onto our relationship. To see both of our areas of strength laid out side-by-side, to see the ways our strengths overlap one another’s, to understand how our strengths affect the other person, and to recognize the positive energy we can lay hold of as a team has been exciting. As a result, I appreciate and value my husband even more!
|
| He said: It’s been helpful to take time, as a couple, to identify and maximize our individual and shared strengths. By contrast, our busied lifestyle often pushes us to live in such a way that we neglect our own unique design—mechanically pushing through obstacles instead of growing together in purpose. We needed a place to refocus—a place to reclaim our identity. Coaching helped here. Jen is a master at getting at the core of what makes another person tick. She seems to thrive on this… and as a result, we’ve begun to explore again the kind of life we both desire to live. We’ve been reminded to give attention to one another’s areas of expertise and strength—and to play to those areas. What’s been most exciting about our coaching time with Jen has been seeing our passion renewed to pursue a common goal we’ve had in the area of visual art. Today we are as motivated and equipped as ever to put a plan in place to actualize specific future endeavors. |
